The Starling – Wooden Sculpture in Madsbyparken

Have you spotted the big starling with its chick in Madsbyparken?

Experience the Starling in Madsbyparken

Did you know that a very special starling lives in Madsbyparken?

Here, you’ll find a giant starling with its little chick, both made entirely from recycled wood.

Art and Nature Unite in Fredericia

The starling and its chick are part of a series of wooden sculptures that can be found in the natural areas in and around Fredericia. These impressive wooden sculptures are part of a project that combines sustainability, nature experiences, and art. The large sculptures are made from recycled wood and created by the local artist Mariane Ladegaard Jensen.

A Wooden Sculpture Benefiting Wildlife

The starling and its chick are placed in Madsbyparken, one of the areas in Fredericia where many starlings live. The nesting box that the starling sits on contains many small starling boxes, making the artwork both beautiful to look at and beneficial for the local starlings, which can make their home here.

Go on a Hunt for Fredericia’s Wooden Sculptures in Nature

In addition to the starling and its chick, you can also go on a hunt for Fredericia’s other wooden sculptures, each telling a story about the wildlife in the specific natural area where they are placed.

See if you can spot the woodpecker at Trelde Næs, the tawny owl in Fuglsang Forest, or the sea eagle at Rands Fjord.
